Rundown: Get Familiar 2

So, Get Familiar 2 is in the books and it was another great show.  In addition to the fireworks going off on stage, GF2 was also the site of the official birthday bash for Hot Bars Music Group's own F.Low, who also served as special co-host for the event.

The event also served as the official release party for Rah Scrilla, as that week he released his latest project, "Still Smoking," the follow-up to 2011's "Smoking in the Bathroom."  The project itself featured many of the artists who performed that night, including Biggie Deaf, F.Low, EDE, Wise, and R.T., to name a few.

In addition to the current smash single "Getcha Money Right", Rah Scrilla also performed cuts from the mixtape like "Gauntlet" and "Bomb First," as well as old favorites like "Can't Miss This Show."

The final featured set for the evening was from U-Cubed, with highlights from V. Loveless and Kevs as they lit up the crowd, performing a new cut as well as a track from Kevs fall release "It's A Kevs Janks, Baby!"  Up-and-coming threat Dre the Assassin also held down the stage alongside BeatBox and New Juice Crew member R.T.

Other highlights of the night included a memorable performance from Spazz, fresh off his "Long Nights" video release and heading into a new mixtape release in 2013.  Bravo and the Big League also came through with a solid performance, lighting up the crowd with bangers, including one of my personal favorites, "Fresh" by T-Mac.  Other acts like R.A.I.G.E Records, Ruf, and Ms. Desi also showed up and held it down, ensuring a stacked show with no let downs.  These are the types of performances that show what the local hip hop scene in Richmond has to offer, yet and still it does not scratch the surface!

Make sure you don't miss the next event, coming early 2013.  We'll have new performers, both established and up-and-coming, each and every show we do.  Check the photos page for more pictures from the event, and be sure to follow-up and find out more about your favorite artists and performers of the night!
